Commission for of Prince Phillip and Prince Charming from Snow White.
This is the commissioner's version where the princesses don't exist, I suppose, since that would be TOUGH SHIT for them if they did and saw this going down. Haha. Maybe sometime in the future when the world is more liberal, some animation company will come out with an original gay man "disney-esque" cartoon fairy tale movie so the gay community can have their Prince Charming too.
Come to think of it, this is actually a VERY realistic concept since ALL of the "Prince Charmings" I run into in the real world turn out to be gay ANY WAY. *sigh*
Love the gay men, but seriously, WHERE ARE THE STRAIGHT PRINCE CHARMINGS in REAL LIFE. WHERE. ARE. THEY.
I'm afraid I don't share your optimism about Disney getting a gay main character or couple anytime soon. There will probably be family films and perhaps kids film with gay couples, but I just can't see Disney getting to that, at least not without heavy pressure from the fan base or the political correctness police. Maybe if the more mainstream inclusion of gay characters had come when disney was not yet so sensor whipped. I wrote all this, and then I remembered that Disney has DreamWorks. Maybe there is hope...
Hahah. I'm not really optimistic about that either. Disney is so censored now I don't see gay romance happening for a while. However, other animation companies might! We'll see I guess....
Hey wait, We DO have one! A couple even. Miguel and Tulio from The Road To El Dorado. Sure, the censors got to them and removed the pet names, but the relationship is otherwise exactly as in the first version where they were gay. I still consider them a canonical couple. One where the censors won't allow them to say it out loud, but hey, show don't tell. It's like a zombie film where you aren't allowed to use the "z" word.
